We view children as ‘being competent, capable, curious and rich in potential.’ We ensure that home child care providers foster the children’s exploration, play, inquiries, and enhance children’s ability to self-regulate. We Do This By
- Meeting the provincial licensing standards Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and the City of Toronto’s Home Child Care Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI).
- Supporting positive and responsible interactions among children, parents, child care providers and staff.
- Providing child-initiated and adult-supported experiences.
- Incorporating into each day, indoor/outdoor play, as well as active play, rest and quiet time while considering the individual needs of each child.
- Fostering engagement and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children.
- Offering educational workshops for providers and parents.
- Providing regular home visits by knowledgeable Home Child Care Consultants.
- Providing developmental screening for children and making appropriate referrals, if needed.
- Involving local community partners and allowing those partners to support children, their families and staff.
